Poseidon Amateur Boxing Club boasts its state of the art, bespoke boxing gym located on the first floor of the Colin Ingleby-MacKenzie Stand at The Ageas Bowl. The gym currently offers 5000 square feet of space with three permanent sparring rings (24ft, 20ft, 18ft rings) all with their own technique analysis suite. Plenty of floor space is available with 14 boxing bags bordering the gym. the facility houses a dedicated strength and conditioning gym with three lifting platforms, 25m astroturf track, full free weight resources and a selection of cardio-vascular equipment. Private shower/changing rooms are available together with use of secure lockers for valuables.
Despite being open for less than 3 years, Poseidon has over five hundred members including both competitive and recreational participants. It has over 25 registered boxers and 10 qualified coaches. Aside from boxing training, the Poseidon's Gym has focussed on a number of community projects including disability and inclusion provision, women's only training, taster sessions for local schools, close work with local police and social work organisations and are soon to offer educational delivery.
